Powership
The project “Power of Friendship” was developed and conducted by the Karadeniz Energy Group for countries of the Middle East, Africa and Asia, aiming to fulfill the urgent electricity needs of all countries in the world with our Powership fleet. Current Powership fleet capacity of our group exceeds 750MW, With the current vessels under construction the Fleet capacity is scheduled to surpass 2,000MWs before the end of 2013. Powership fleet will be operating in 15 different countries in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.
The Powerships are high technology floating power plants designed and constructed to fulfill the urgent electricity needs of the countries through rental contracts or power purchase agreements (PPA).
Powerships are delivered to the client countries as a complete power plant ready to operate immediately.
Powership capacities range from 45-500MW and are delivered between 60-180 days to provide medium-term solutions with contracts of 2 to 5 years.
Powerships are constructed with special technology which can operate both on liquid fuels (HFO/RFO)as well as natural gas with a dual fuel option. With high efficiency and availability, Powerships can provide uninterrupted electricity at various high voltage levels.
Operation and maintenance of the Powerships are also provided by the Karadeniz Energy Group.

Since 2003, we have been supplying electricity to Iraq from our power plant located in the South East region of Turkey in Silopi, under our agreement with the Ministry of Electricity of Republic of Iraq. More than 9 billion kilowatt hours have been supplied under the scope of “Power of Friendship”. This electricity has been utilized for the basic needs of the citizens of Iraq, in addition to energizing Mosul and its water pumps and treatment facilities. The electricity supplied from our power plant has delivered energy and water to Iraqi neighbors.

This project has created employment to over 3.000 people in both Turkey and Iraq whether through direct employment in power plants, or its related activities such as fuel transportation. Our company has been repetitively awarded for its activities in the region, but the outmost rewarding part has been increasing the living standards and the happiness of the people under the project “Power of Friendship”.

Karadeniz Powership Doğan Bey, Karadeniz Powership Rauf Bey and Karadeniz Powership Irem Sultan members of our Powership fleet are operating to meet the annual electricty demands of 4 million people living in Iraq.
The firs Powerships of our fleet, Karadeniz Powership Doğan Bey has been generating electricty for the Basra region of Iraq with 144 MW of capacity since May 2010. Within three months of Dogan Bey, the second Powership of our fleet Karadeniz Powership Rauf Bey has joined the project with 200MW.
At the end of 2011, Karadeniz Powership Irem Sultan with 110MW has also joined the project in Basra.
Our installed capacity is Basra via three Powerships exceeds 450MW and is evacuated by connecting to high voltage substations from three different locations. Regardless of harsh weather conditions, sand storms, immense heat, our generation continued uninterruptedly and have operated as a base load generation and a valuable contributed to the national electricity grid and Basra in Iraq.
We are proud to be helping Iraq’s economic development by energizing Basra, the gateway of Iraq to the world.
